World Breast Feeding Week (1st August to 7th August, 2018)

Breast Feeding--- Foundation of Life

We Aranyaj Society took an initiative to celebrate World Breast Feeding week from 1st August to 7th August, 2018. WABA theme of this year was Breast Feeding—“Foundation of Life” because exclusive breastfeeding in first six months is the best starts and makes a child more healthy & intelligent – ‘Breastfeeding for nutrition, food security and poverty reduction. Aranyaj Society was celebrated this programme in collaboration with the Chief Co-coordinator of Breastfeeding week celebration committee Dr. Sunil Kumar Nag. He took initiative to spread importance of breastfeeding through socio-Medical seminars, Lactation management training, and interactive sessions with mothers and colourful rally on breast feeding. Our President of Aranyaj Society Mr. Prabuddha Gupta has taken the effort to spread this uprising in entire Bengal.  The activities of the entire week were as follows:

BFW 2018(Lady Duffrin Hospital )


A seminar cum interactive session was organised for Nurse, Aya and Patients in Lady Dufrin Victoria Hospital. It was also broadcasted in Akashbani Kolkata.

BFW 2018 (Road Show)


A decorated rally with attractive posters and banners was started at 9 am from Mohanananda Brahmachari Shisu Seva Prathisthan.  The road show was lead by Dr. Sunil Kumar Nag. Many eminent personalities, students, health workers and local people took part enthusiastically in this rally.

A Whole day seminar & free health check-up camp were organized in Gosaba Block, Sundarban. Dr Sunil Kumar Nag motivated the audiences through his valuable speech.

Green Mission 2013-14

This year Department Of Panchyat & Rural Development, Govt. of West Bengal Recommend our project to all District Magistrate to support us. Accordingly we trained aprox. 15,000 students to animate the rural people about few environmental issues like –a) Conserve Biodiversity , (b) Good cleanliness & sanitation habits (c)Domestic waste management (d) Advantages of non-conventional energy (e)Depletion of natural resources – the way out (f)Rain Water Harvesting - why & how? (g)Pollution, effect of pollution on health (h) Global warming & Climatic Change.  Arranged 12 regional awareness program consists plantation, rally, road show & a cultural agenda with few tribal groups. Planted  50,000 saplings.

The Deputy commissioner of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan,Kolkata Shri P.R.L.Gupta also came to inaugarate this program in Kendriya Vidyalayas of Kolkata at KV No-1, Salt Lake on 24/01/2014.

Green Mission 2012-13

With the support of KMDA (Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority) & WBSEDCL (West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd.) we continued our most admirable project ‘GREEN MISSION’. Besides sapling distribution & workshops, we gave emphasis on awareness through cultural activities & got enormous response from various corner of the society. Throughout the session we trained 11,000 students approximately towards GREEN EDUCATION.

Zoo Activity

‘Know Wildlife, Love Wildlife, Save Wildlife’ Nowadays the zoos are considered as ex-situ conservation ground for education, research and breeding rather than an amusement park. In viewing that we conducted a four months (Nov.-2009 to Feb.-2010) ‘waste not’ & ‘tease not animals’ a Mass Awareness Camp in Alipore Zoological Garden with the collaboration with Zoo authority Kolkata where ~ 2000 students & ~ 200 teachers participated under the guidance of 10 Environmental campaigner. During this period (Nov. to Feb.) our activists & student campaigners incessantly appealed the visitors not to tease the zoo animals as they are suffering from inexplicable pang in captivity. The sensitization camp helps 2 million zoo visitors to realize the objective of zoo as well as what to do & what not. To achieve the goal of the zoo, ‘Public awareness’ should be mandatory. We are keen to spread the consciousness in nationwide.

Cultural Activity

Bengal folk lore is executed to celebrate the glory of nature. Aranyaj cultural team is exploring various folk forms of Bengal. Aranyaj Society had taken initiative to form a cultural group. The group is formed by the students of degree course (vocal music, dance, drama, instrument) mainly of Rabindra Bharaty University. It is fact that any campaign accompanied with cultural events likes drama, choir, dance, live performances etc will have a great impact on the society. This group played an active roll in different activities of the society throughout the years & trained the students at large. In near future this team will come out as main weapon in mass awareness.   Aranyaj team is also working on the preservation of the dance forms like bahadung, lagrejhika, alkap, Gambhira, Domni, Kalikapatadi, chhou, santhal etc. Special emphasis is given on the ‘baghanritya’ found in remote village of Sundarban. Aranyaj team is taking the effort to save this rich cultural heritage from the verdict of extinction.   Our cultural coordinator Ms. Upasana Bose initiated a multi training institute –KREATOR'.She is the incharge of this institute and nicely motivated our other trainers of different wings like-vocal music, dance, Indian folk, instruments etc.  

Slum Education

an endeavor to extent Education in slums: In order to help needy children fight illiteracy & develop life skill we have undertaken the project for the extension of education, nutrition, health services, environmental awareness and healthy culture among them. Initially we are carrying out this venture in the slum of Beleghata, & wish to spread in greater Kolkata as well as in forest villages of Sundarban.

Green Mission 2011-12

Project ‘Green Mission’- an effort to animate students towards sustainability : Our mission is to instill a connection and commitment to the environment in common people through animated students. We launched this project in association with Kolkata region, Paschim Banga Sarva Shiksha Avijan & School Education Department in the year 2011. The program is designed to educate children about their immediate environment & the causes for its degradation through slide show, demonstration, quiz, debate, documentary film show, art & slogan writing competition, cultural program & outdoor activities such as road show, sapling distribution, plantation & campaigning in local area. The interested students are getting further training at our training centre. Through this on going project we are aspiring to build 1 million Green warriors who can think ecologically, and have the will, ability & courage to act
